In additional to unique optical, electrical and magnetic characteristics, nanomaterials possess efficient enzyme-like catalytic activitives: peroxidase-like, superoxide dismutase-like, catalase-like, oxidase-like, uricase-like, nitrate reductase-like, and so on.Nanoparticles as enzyme mimetics (nanozymes) show several advantages over natural enzymes, such as facile production, easy to store and transportation, stable and reusable, various administration routes. The latest research progresses in environmental protection, food safety and biomedical applications of nanozymes are reviewed. Moreover, the prospects and possible obstacles in application of nanozymes are discussed.
