Platinum-loaded NaY zeolite (Pt/NaY) catalysts were synthesized and tested for the aqueous-phase reforming (APR) of methanol and ethanol solutions to produce hydrogen. The APR performance of the Pt/NaY catalysts was compared to the conventional γ-alumina-supported platinum (Pt/γ-Al2O3) catalysts. The results have shown that the Pt/NaY catalysts have higher catalytic performance for the APR of methanol and ethanol than the Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalysts.
