摘要
Recently, power quality conditioning has become a vital concern due to enhanced harmonic pollution levels in the electrical power system. Numerous filtering techniques such as active and passive filtering of electric power have been developed. Active Power Filters (APF) are mostly adopted over passive filters. It possesses several merits, such as being nonresonant with the system's impedance, lighter in weight, compact size, non-sensitive to system parameter changes, etc. Moreover, AF is a matured technology for voltage stability and reactive power control at the transmission ends. In this regard, this research paper attempts a comprehensive review of state-of-art classifications and applications of APFs. Further deep insight towards the issues faced by APFs and their possible solutions in the future for hassle-free implementation have also been projected.
