Rock Blasting in Underground Mining

This chapter focuses on the blasting in sublevel caving. But the principles in sublevel caving blasting are applicable to other underground mining methods. The following topics are discussed in detail: drilling plan, blast plan, brow damage, misfires, and quantity of rings in each blast. In addition, the following issues are discussed: open cut blasting, detonator placement, relation between fragmentation and ore recovery, and effects of blasting on safety and environment. At last, blasting in the future sublevel caving is discussed.
