The strain and sealing design of a portable hydrolysis reactor for hydrogen storage materials

Portable hydrolysis reactors for hydrogen storage material reactions are extremely important for the application of hydrogen energy since hydrolysis is a facile path to provide hydrogen. The strain and sealing components are extremely important for a hydrogen reactor. However, most researchers are focusing on the hydrogen storage materials for hydrolysis instead of the hydrolysis reactors. Herein, the structure of a hydrolysis reactor has been designed based on the strain distribution and sealing efficiency. The stress concentration on the threaded connection part and sealing effects have been analyzed using finite element analysis method. The stress concentration has been effectively reduced by increasing thread turns and wall thickness of thread. The stress concentration was also found to be affected by the thread types. Double sealing connection was adopted, where the sealing performance was found to increase with increase pressure in the reactor. This study provides a feasible design of a portable hydrolysis reactor for solid-state hydrogen storage materials.
