摘要
The controlled drug delivery system provides tremendous favor over the traditional delivery systems by improving few of pharmacological aspects of therapeutic moiety. The ability to customize drug release rates, enhance patient compliance, and decrease several risks through limiting contact of therapeutics to other peripheral organs/tissue of not interest are only a few other benefits of such systems. Controlling drug release in a system may be accomplished through a variety of techniques. They may function concurrently or at various phases of a delivery cycle, depending on the specific application. A range of physicochemical and biological factors have a role in the design of such systems. Dissolution, diffusion, osmosis, ion exchange, and erosion are the basic processes of drug release. The presented study gives an outline on theory of controlled release mechanism, countless advantages, certain flaws, factors consideration, need of such delivery system systemic and detailed knowledge about the nature of biomolecule, while spotlight was also shifted on various approaches for designing the system.
