Among the other acute phase proteins are a number of proteinase inhibitors, coagulation, complement and transport proteins and some proteins, like CRP, whose normal functions are unknown. One of these, serum arnyloid A protein (SAA), is of particular interest because it seems to be the precursor of amyloid A (AA) protein.
