DNA nanostructures offer new opportunities for diagnostics, therapeutics and biomolecular analysis. For that purpose, they require special modifications and functionalities. In article number 1805386, Megan E. Kizer, Robert J. Linhardt, Arun Richard Chandrasekaran, and Xing Wang discuss the properties needed to make DNA nanostructures applicable to in vitro and in vivo applications by drawing analogies to a molecular hero. Like the hero, DNA nanostructures have the ability to put on a suit equipped with honing mechanisms, molecular flares, encapsulated cargoes, a protective body armor, and an evasive stealth mode.
