Sesquiterpene dimer and trimer from Chloranthus japonicus

A novel sesquiterpene trimer, trishizukaol A, consisting of three lindenane units was isolated from the roots of Chloranthus japonicus. The structure was elucidated by 1D- and 2D-NMR methods. A structurally related sesquiterpene dimer was also found in the same plant.
