Project Risk Identification Tools

Brainstorming, used in small-workshop environments at appropriate times in the project life cycle, is the basic technique employed for project risk identification; it is generally most effective when applied in a suitably structured manner within an appropriate project management tool. Examples are given, using some of the techniques categorised in Chapter 6. Outcomes from the risk identification stage should include precise statements for each project risk. Risk maps may also be prepared. When risk identification is carried out thoroughly, it raises risk awareness in a project stakeholder organisation.
