Extremophilic organisms are a significant source of extremozymes that live under extreme conditions. Extremozymes are of great importance and have numerous applications in several industries owing to their activity and stability under extreme conditions. But, a few extremozymes only are being used for their industrial applications, especially in the pharmaceutical industry. Even though extremozymes exhibit peculiar characteristics, their valuable potential remains unexplored. Therefore, researchers have recently focused the research on extremozymes since it is being considered as a new alternative to the current pharmaceutical applications. Henceforth, the current review presents a summary of recent advances about extremozymes, types of extremozymes, and their potential pharmaceutical applications. In the future, extremozymes will develop the research toward real-time industrial applications.
