VS2 was prepared via the hydrothermal method and changing the reaction time and employing surfactant. The microstructural characterizations show the control of sheet dimensions and growth of crystal planes. The Z-scan study demonstrates the positive nonlinear n2 due to the self-focusing effect and the two-photon absorption for nonlinear absorption. These results imply the effect of lateral dimensions of sheets in cauliflower-like structures on nonlinear optical responses. Also, the nonlinear optical susceptibility χ(3) is as high as 10−10 (esu). This study shows that the VS2 flower-like structure and its similar nanostructures are promising materials for nonlinear optical applications and further considerations.
