Research on Networked Protection Scheme of Active Distribution Networks with Doubly Fed Wind Turbines and Electric Vehicles

With the increasing number of new energy sources and electric vehicles in the active distribution network, their impact on the fault characteristics of the distribution network is more obvious. The relay protection of distribution network faces new challenges. Because V2G electric vehicles have charging and discharging control strategies, their fault characteristics are quite different from traditional inverters. Moreover, fault characteristics of Doubly fed wind turbines have significantly different from inverter power sources, but most existing research on distribution network protection mainly focuses on inverter power sources. In this paper, a new networked protection scheme is proposed. The difference between the fault current of doubly fed wind turbines and electric vehicles is explained. Then, the construction mode of networked protection system has been proposed. Moreover, the networked protection schemes and principles have been provided for the active distribution with DFIGs and electric vehicles. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme was verified by simulation system.
