摘要
Water pollution has become a critical issue in many countries around the world. To tackle the current wastewaters and polluted waters, various physical, chemical, and biological have been proposed. Considering the fact that the cost of treatment is an important factor, many scholars have been looking for cost-effective remediation techniques. Thus, biomaterials such as cellulose have been proposed and widely used mainly due to their availability in nature, non-toxicity, inexpensiveness, and acceptable performance. In this chapter, cellulose and its related composites as biomaterials are introduced, and then their application in the removal of dyes, heavy metals, and pharmaceuticals is discussed
