Zinc oxide nanocrystallite has been successfully produced by green method using Eluetherine palmifolia extract. The powder of zinc oxide nanocrystallite was prepared by dissolving the zinc acetate dehydrate precursor in aquadest then followed by a varied titration of Eluetherine palmifolia extract volume, i.e. 5, 15, and 25 ml. The synthesized zinc oxide nanocrystallite was studied using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), UV-Visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The XRD data analysis results indicated the presence of pure crystalline hexagonal wurtzite structure of zinc oxide nanocrystallite and revealed the crystallite grain size ranging from 33 to 131 nm. The UV-Vis spectrum of the three samples exhibited typical absorption peaks at around 370 nm and the band gap energy of ZnO nanocrystallite had a range between 3.208 eV and 3.213 eV. The characterization using FTIR indicated the presence of −OH groups of Eluetherine palmifolia extract which plays a crucial role in ZnO nanocrystallite formation.
