摘要
The integration of polymeric membranes as advanced materials in chemical and medical applications has ignited substantial advancements across multiple domains. This review provides an overview of the vast potential of polymeric membranes, highlighting their role in advancing separation science, drug delivery systems, tissue engineering, protein and drug purification and other crucial domains. Along with the separation, the polymeric membranes have contributed significantly to developing implantable medical devices and scaffolds, as their tailored properties facilitate cell adhesion, proliferation, and integration within the host tissue. Specifically, polymeric membranes play a crucial role in separation science, excelling in purification processes for pristine medical materials. Their precisely designed pore structures and surface characteristics enable selective filtration, efficiently removing contaminants from biological fluids and pharmaceutical compounds. Through a comprehensive examination of recent research findings and developments, we delve into polymeric membranes' unique properties and applications, showcasing their significance in shaping the future of chemical and biomedical engineering.
