Review of in-situ stress measurement methods

After reviewing the origin and development process of in-situ stress measurement,major present-day methods to measure in-situ stress are classified and their fundamental principles,advantages and disadvantages,and applications are introduced.Meanwhile,new development trends about in-situ stress measurement as well as the problems and challenges that emerge in in-situ stress measurement in China now are analyzed in detail.The study has a guiding significance for using different methods of in-situ stress measurement and thereby improving its measuring accuracy.
