Water-mediated radical C–H tosylation of alkenes with tosyl cyanide

A sulfinyl sulfone intermediate, generated in situ by the nucleophilic addition of water to tosyl cyanide, dominated the subsequent tosylation of alkenes via cascade di-radical addition/β-elimination.
