摘要
Future renewable energy grid systems will demand the production of low-cost, secure, and long-lasting rechargeable batteries. Because sodium and potassium are far more prevalent than lithium in the Earth's crust, rechargeable batteries based on sodium and potassium are feasible alternatives to lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Over the last decade, rechargeable potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) have grown in popularity. However, PIBs development is still in its early stages. This review focuses on recent advances in PIBs electrodes (anode and cathode) and electrolytes, as well as the challenges occur in PIBs research. The potassium storage processes, the evolution of PIBs, and the benefits and drawbacks of each material group are all covered. Furthermore, several approaches for enhancing PIBs electrochemical efficacy are presented. This research offers brief insights and strategies, as well as an overview of many literary perspectives.
