This investigation explores recent advancements in piezoelectric sensors and materials. The article starts by explaining the bases leading to piezo and ferroelectric activity coupled with a discussion on lead zirconate titanate. In spite of the progress made in piezoelectric sensors, the development of lead-free piezoelectric materials is the future for this technology. Single crystals, which are one of the primary materials for piezoelectric materials, need to be studied further to explore the feasibility of inducing higher strains. Future piezoelectric materials must still be functional at both lower and elevated temperatures to make them suitable for varying applications.
