Synthesis of 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole and Effects of Solid Adsorbents on the Synthetic Reaction

An improved process for the preparation of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole(accelerator M) by reacting aniline,nit-robenzene,and carbon disulfide was disclosed.The reaction was optimal conducted at 240 ℃ to 260℃ for 4 hours with the yield more than 80 percentage.Activated alumina,silica dioxide and activated carbon,which are three common solid adsorbents,were applied as catalyst,respectively.The yield of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole was improved from the original 80.6% to more than 85%,even up to 86.7%.And the reaction time had been shortened from the original 4 hours to 3 hours.
