摘要
Radiation-induced skin reaction, or radiation dermatitis, is a common adverse event (AE) of radiation treatment. This chapter describes the clinical manifestations and underlying pathophysiology of radiation skin reactions. Next, it discusses factors that affect the severity of acute skin reactions: patient factors (comorbid, genetic conditions) and treatment factors (systemic agents and technical aspects of radiotherapy). The chapter goes on to explain the primary tumor sites where moderate to severe acute skin reaction are commonly encountered in the curative use of radiotherapy. Finally, a systematic review of interventions for the prevention and management of acute radiation skin reaction is presented.
