摘要
This paper demonstrates a polarization splitter based on a dual-core square lattice photonic crystal fiber with selectively metal-filled air holes. The use of metal nanowires adds plasmonic characteristics to the structure that helps the splitter to maintain extinction ratio (ER) higher than 20 dB over a wide bandwidth of about 500 nm (1400 nm to 1900 nm). The splitter shows best performance at 1.55 μm of wavelength with the highest ER of 109.57 dB. The proposed splitter is able to split the incoming light into two orthogonal polarized rays at a short length of 90.73 μm and can be a versatile device for sensing applications and optical networks.
