摘要
Water environmental quality in Hunan Province which is a major water resource province in China plays an important role in maintaining and stabilizing the balance of the Yangtze River ecosystem and ensuring the health of local people. In order to understand the relationship between the economic development and the health of the local population over the past decade, the emissions of wastewater and heavy metals, GDP and the health expenditure were counted in this research from 2004 to 2016 in Hunan Province. The results showed that wastewater emissions totally presented an increasing trend between 2004 and 2016 and reached the maximum value 3141.07 megaton in 2015. During this period, the total emissions of five heavy metal pollutants (Pb, Cr(VI), Cd, Hg and As) in sewage reached the maximum in 2004. Emissions of Cd, Pb and As were dominant in the total emissions of heavy metals. GDP almost increased linearly and was correlated positively with the emission of wastewater (0.936), and had a significant positive correlation with total health expenditure (0.987). Both the discharge of wastewater per unit GDP and the total annual discharge of heavy metals per unit GDP show an exponential downward trend with time. Although the discharge of all heavy metals in wastewater decreases gradually, the total health expenditure and the health expenditure per capita increased year by year.
