摘要
Neurodegenerative diseases are a heterogeneous group of disorders that are characterized by the progressive degeneration of the structure and function of the central nervous system or peripheral nervous system. Dementias can be caused by brain cell death or a neurodegenerative disease. Based on some new hypothesis, the methods to rule out other possibly treatable diseases are also used for detecting neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). AD is categorized as an incurable, degenerative neurological disorder. The AD patients display a loss of resting-state functional connectivity in lower alpha and beta bands even when a measure insensitive to volume-conduction effects, such as phase lag index, is used. Exploratory analysis showed that quantitative electroencephalogram measures could predict a dementia with Lewy bodies versus an AD diagnosis with high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. Some neurodegenerative diseases, like Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease, affect the basal ganglia and lead to movement difficulties.
