Electron diffraction and the Bragg equation

The author points out that many standard textbooks gave a less than complete account of the Bragg equation in terms of underlying principles. This account attempts to bridge the gap and may be of interest to physics teachers generally. The discussion is limited to the special case of an orthorhombic lattice and the analysis is pursued, for simplicity, in the two dimensional case only.
