Antisepsis of Natural Compositions in Gleditsia sinensis

OBJECTIVE To study antisepsis and bacteriostasis of natural Gleditsia sinensis Lam.METHODS Oxford plate assay system was adopted to determine bacteriostasis of extract solutions including water extract,alcohol extract and complex liquid of Gleditsia sinensis Lam.and dilution method for MIC.Antisepsis of Gleditsia sinensis Lam.powder was tested in the open air.RESULTS Clear inhibition zones were found in the extract solution with candia albicans and aspergillus niger,while different sized inhibition zones appeared in type strains of staphylococcus aureus,bacillus subtilis,and escherichia coli whose MIC in water extract and complex liquid were 125,62.5 and 62.5mg/mL respectively and in alcohol extract were 250,125 and 125mg/mL.The experiment in the open air illustrated good antisepsis of Gleditsia sinensis Lam.CONCLUSION Gleditsia sinensis Lam with relative strong bacteriostasis effect on various bacteria deserves comprehensive development and utilization.
