With the advancement of computer technology, the high-performance computation is moving towards EXAScale, providing solid hardware foundation for the development of computational physics in China. However, the computational physics software packages with Chinese independent intellectual property rights are rare and the functionalities of these softwares are relatively simple, which cannot meet the scientific challenges. In order to boost high-level computational physics research, there is an urgent requirement to develop China-based computational physics software. In this paper, we briefly introduce the state of the art of computational physics methods and software, and discuss the difficulties and perspective for the development of computational physics software in China. It is anticipated that this paper provides some useful suggestions for the future development of scientific computational physics software in China.
