摘要
This paper proposes an amplitude-phase independent modulation mechanism and a transmitarray element based on this mechanism. The proposed mechanism can provide full-range linear modulation of amplitude and phase only by controlling the propagation phase without extensive calculations and simulations. In the proposed element, the linearly polarized incident waves are introduced into two channels connecting a differential feed network. The phase of the waves in the two channels is fully and independently controlled by the transmission line length. In addition, an amplitude modulation from 0 to 1 is achieved by changing the phase difference between the two channels. The proposed method is experimentally verified using a transmitarray antenna (TA) with a high gain and a low sidelobe level (SLL). The results demonstrate its effectiveness in amplitude and phase modulation, as well as the performance of the transmitarray element. The proposed mechanism could also be applied to metasurface and phased arrays.
