摘要
As it has developed over the past few decades, photocatalytic production of hydrogen is a promising clean and sustainable technology. Various conventional techniques have been utilized to maneuver the photocatalytic performance of the photocatalysts.The defect engineering method can, however, be used to tune electronic structure, coordination number of atoms, electrical conductivity, etc. This chapter emphasizes the significance of defect engineering over traditional approaches for updating photocatalysts to boost effectiveness in photocatalytic hydrogen generation. The various types of defect-engineered materials employed during photocatalytic photocatalytic generation of hydrogen, as well as current advances have been thoroughly reviewed. Finally, a summary and future challenges in this promising subject are explored to inspire researchers to construct low-cost and highly efficient photocatalysts for H2 generation.
