Methanol Production From the Pulp Mills and Paper Industry

Methanol production from Kraft pulp mills has gained much attention in the past few years. It offers several benefits, including diversification of revenue streams, reduced waste, and sustainable development. This chapter will revolve around the production of methanol from pulp mill wastes. The production mechanisms that could be employed in the Kraft pulp mills for the production of methanol are the cynosure of this chapter. This chapter also accentuates the variegate technologies that can be adopted for black liquor gasification plants. The benefits of synergistic approaches of paper and pulp mills with methanol production plants will also be explored.
