In this issue of Chem Catalysis, Garcia-Verdugo and collaborators report on a pseudopeptidic macrocycle that catalyzes the addition of CO2 to styrene oxide. The methodically constructed bis zinc macrocycle brings together several critical features to afford incredible reactivity under solvent-less conditions without a co-catalyst. The reported efficiency under these constraints is noteworthy.
