The influence of the particle size distribution on an earlier electrochemical measurement of the oxygen ion diffusion coefficient at 76°C in La0.50Sr0.50CoO3−y was examined. A value of 1.55×10−13 cm2 s−1 was found which compares favorably with the earlier value of 1.23×10−13 cm2 s−1 determined on the basis of a single characteristic particle size. The measured current differs only by a factor 1.3 from the calculated one, which factor can be attributed to the use of an idealized model with spherical particles.
