To address the problem of energy efficiency formation optimization for a fleet of AUVs, we research the hydrodynamic performance and formation optimization of AUVs based on integrated optimization platform using CFD numerical calculation and Multi-island Genetic Algorithm, which leads to the minimum resistance of a fleet of AUVs during long distance navigation. Three kinds of formation of a fleet of AUVs are taken into consideration and the trend of resistance of the fleet of AUVs is analyzed, including serial, parallel and mixed formation. Numerical simulation results showed that energy efficiency formation were obtained by minimizing the resistance of the fleet of AUVs.
