Macroglobulinemic nephropathy

The first recorded instance of acute renal failure in the macroglobulinemia of Waldenström is presented. Failure of the kidneys was precipitated by severe dehydration. The anatomic lesions associated with the acute renal failure consisted of deposition of proteinaceous materials in the glomerular capillaries. These deposited substances showed the histochemical features of the macromolecular protein detected in the serum.
