Synthesis of Flower-Like Structured Calcium Silicide and Its Application in the Preparation of Palladium-Loaded Catalyst

Abstract A flower like structured CaSi2 (f-CaSi2) was successfully prepared by a simple treatment of bulk CaSi2 powder in aqueous NaOH solution. Small and highly dispersed Pd nanoparticles were formed on f-CaSi2 by using unique properties of CaSi2 and H2 reduction, which also worked as a heterogeneous catalyst.
