A homogeneous 14-core uncoupled Multicore fiber (MCF) arranged in two rings is proposed with a view to obtaining low crosstalk transmission. Trench-assisted approach was used to minimize the crosstalk between the cores. The influence of crosstalk has been examined on both the outer and center cores for a 100 km-long transmission distance. The impact of fiber bending radius, wavelength, and trench width on crosstalk has been investigated numerically. The simulation results demonstrate that the designed MCF exhibits crosstalk less than -110 dB although the 14 cores are placed with a limited cladding diameter of 200 µm. The proposed fiber could be a good candidate for long-distance space division multiplexing (SDM) applications.
