摘要
We propose a novel algorithm of a wavefront-matching (WFM) method for the design of silicon waveguides. A conventional WFM method may not provide a stable design of silicon waveguides because of its high-index contrast. In the proposed method, a proper constraint is imposed on a conventional method depending on the device performance. Effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through the design of TE 0 -TE 1 mode converter (MC) in detail. The conversion efficiency of the TE 0 -TE 1 MC is −0.52 dB at the wavelength of 1550 nm. As another example, TE 0 -TE 2 MC was designed by the proposed method to additionally demonstrate its effectiveness.
