Partial oxidation of propylene on a screen anode in an aqueous solution of a pH value of 12.0–13.9 has been studied in the temperature range of 40°C–75°C, and in the partial pressure of propylene from 0.04 to 1.0 atm. The effects of the electrical potential, temperature, pH value of electrolyte, and the propylene partial pressure on the current density were determined. The results indicated that several reaction steps occurred in the solution. A mathematical model describing these reactions and the rates of the determining steps were identified. The reaction rate equation in the potential range of 1.45–2.25 volts was determined to be: i = 91.9 (OH−) exp (− (11.8-0.194 Fη)/RT)
