摘要
More than a year after taking office following a campaign known for their aggressive climate agenda, the Biden Administration (“Administration”) has made some progress on its campaign promises but has faced notable challenges. To date, the Administration has made strides by re‐engaging the international community through re‐joining the Paris Climate Accord, signing into law the landmark Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (IIJA), and providing widespread emphasis on environmental justice and equity issues. However, several key developments—including international conflict driving upticks in domestic oil and gas production to meet supply demand, lack of support for key legislation within the Administration's own party compounding existing partisan opposition, and key court challenges—have reinforced some of the difficulties noted upon the Administration's announcement of its key climate objectives, and continue to complicate how the Administration will advance its agenda and secure a second term to continue building upon accomplishments to date.
