H2O2 -promoted C–C bond oxidative cleavage of β-O-4 lignin models to benzanilides using water as a solvent under metal-free conditions

Phenol and benzanilides were obtained through the oxidative amination of lignin models under transition metal-free conditions in H 2 O via a two-step reaction route.
