摘要
Methylglyoxal (MG) is implicated in the development of painful diabetic neuropathy. A retrospective cohort study revealed an increased incidence of asthma exacerbations in patients with diabetes. This study demonstrated that elevated circulating MG levels stimulate capsaicin-sensitive lung vagal afferents via activation of TRPA1, which in turn triggers respiratory reflexes. These findings provide new information for understanding the pathogenic mechanism of diabetes-associated hyperreactive airway diseases and potential therapy.
