The folate receptor (FR) is overexpressed in several types of neoplastic tumors and in activated macrophages that accumulate at the site(s) of inflammation (1). As a consequence, the FR is targeted with different types of radiolabeled probes (usually derivatives of folate) to visualize cancerous lesions or inflammation with noninvasive imaging techniques [ KB cell tumors, which express the FR. In another study, [152Tb]cm09 and [155/161Tb]cm09 were evaluated with PET and SPECT, respectively, for the detection of KB cell lesions in the animals (2). In addition, the efficacies of the [149/161Tb]cm09 conjugates were investigated for the treatment of cancerous tumors in the rodents.
