Catalytic Synthesis of Propyl Gallate by HPA/TiO_2-SnO_2

The propyl gallate was synthesized from gallic acid and n-propyl alcohol on self-made HPA/TiO2-SnO2 catalyst.The effects of molar ratio of n-propyl alcohol to gallic acid,catalyst amount and reaction time on the yield of ester were investigated.The optimum reaction conditions were determined as follows:the molor ratio of n-propyl alcohol to gallic acid was 15∶1,the amount of HPA/TiO2-SnO2 was 2.0% of total reactant mass,and reaction time 2.5 h.And the yield of propyl gallate reached 92.1%.
