Objective To investigate the hemostatic effect of micro-porous polysaccharide material used in the wound cavity. Methods Eighty cases of patients who required placement of skin soft tissue expander were selected randomly, and the total subcutaneous cavities prepared was 142.The patients were divided into 2 groups randomly.Patients in group A were treated with micro-porous polysaccharide materials, and group B was the control group. The drainage volume for 3 days after the surgery, the total drainage volume, the extubation days, and so forth were collected and compared statistically according to the drainage volume of wound cavity unit area. Results The drainage volume for 3 days after the surgery of group A was(0.275±0.126) mL/m~2,and the total drainage volume was(0.458±0.207) mL/cm~2,while that of group B was (0.472±0.222) mL/cm~2 and(0.722±0.303) mL/cm~2 separately, with a statistical difference between the two groups. But there was no significant difference in the tube placement time. Conclusion Micro-porous polysaccharide provides an effective and safety way to wound cavity hemostasis.
