The Sound Change of in 足 Zhengzhou Dialect

Through the inspections of historical phonological statuses and dialectal pronunciations of 足, and from the perspectives of sound change, language contact and lexical diffusion, this paper explains why the various pronunciations of 足 coexist in Zhengzhou dialect at present, and makes a prediction of the future evolutionary trend about these different pronunciations. Meanwhile, this paper points out that both internal rules of sound change(endogenous) and external influences of language contact(exogenous) should be paid attention when studying sound change diachronically or synchronically.
