Polyurethane (PU) coating is a type of organic coating that is widely used for a variety of industrial purposes. The fact that it possesses excellent weathering resistance, as well as mechanical properties, makes it suitable for protective coating applications. A substantial amount of research has been conducted on modified PU coatings in order to enhance their anti-corrosion properties. This chapter describes techniques for improving the anti-corrosion properties of PU coatings. First, the impact of the chemistry of various polyols and isocyanates is evaluated. Then, the impact of different anti-corrosion fillers—such as pigments, nanomaterials, and containers—on the anti-corrosion properties of PU coatings is discussed. Finally, this chapter discusses the future use of PU coatings for anti-corrosion applications.
