Sex and Age Influence the Relationship Between Serum Creatinine/Cystatin C and Carotid Plaque in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

We investigated the effect of sex and age on the association between serum creatinine/cystatin C (CCR) ratio and carotid plaque in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The carotid plaque group and the non-plaque group were divided according to cervical vascular ultrasound; the general and biochemical data of the two groups were compared according to CCR, gender, and age. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze the factors influencing carotid plaque. A total of 1429 patients with T2DM were included in this study. On multivariate analysis, CCR was an independent predictor of carotid plaque with an adjusted odds ratio (OR) of 1.681 [1.250-2.260].
