As an environmentally functional material, zeolite solids can strongly adsorb and decompose harmful indoor gases, such as formaldehyde, to improve the home environment. Rare earth sulfide as a nontoxic and environmentally friendly pigment with good coloring performance is one of the promising choices to replace toxic cadmium- and lead-based pigments. In this work, multifunctional red γ-Ce2S3 pigments coated with microporous zeolite solids have been prepared by a hydrothermal method. The preparation process is safe and environmentally friendly. The fabricated composite solids not only absorb gas and water but also absorb water by microporous structures. The solids also show a stable red color, self-cleaning, and radiative cooling. Our results suggest that the multifunctional red cerium sulfide pigment-coated zeolite solids can be applied in color display, temperature and humidity control, and air purification.
