摘要
In lieu of the conventional lymphatic system, the human brain possesses a glial-dependent waste drainage pathway called the glymphatic system. Notably, a compromised glymphatic system can be reflected via the accumulation of waste materials in the brain as observed in aging, neurodegeneration, and neurovascular diseases. Despite genetic, metabolic-vascular and neuroimaging evidence suggesting disrupted glymphatic system in schizophrenia, our previous proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) study did not find elevated macromolecule (MM) in patients with schizophrenia versus healthy controls. The present analysis investigates MM aggregation in schizophrenia subtypes, according to treatment response.
